Terms of Service
Last Updated: January 7, 2026
1. Service Provider
BOCO (Micro Entreprise)
SIRET: 89531108200021
Location: France
2. Scope of Service
EchoWrite is a Windows desktop application providing audio recording, transcription via OpenAI models, and direct text insertion into third-party software.
3. License and Usage
License: BOCO grants the user a limited, non-transferable license to use EchoWrite.
Restrictions: Users shall not attempt to reverse-engineer the "Global Keyboard Hooks" or the licensing system.
Requirements: The software requires a Windows environment (.NET/WPF) and active internet connectivity for license verification and OpenAI API communication.
4. Third-Party Dependency (OpenAI)
EchoWrite's core functionality (Transcription and Custom Action Prompts) relies on OpenAI’s API (Whisper-1 and GPT-5-mini). BOCO is not responsible for:
- OpenAI service interruptions or API latency.
- The accuracy of transcriptions or translations generated by OpenAI models.
5. Liability Disclaimer
5.1 Direct Text Insertion & Focus Errors
The "Direct Text Insertion" feature simulates keyboard presses to insert text. The user is solely responsible for ensuring the active window is the intended recipient of the text.
BOCO is not liable for data overwritten, incorrectly pasted, or sensitive information inserted into the wrong application (e.g., public chats, unrelated documents) due to user focus errors or window switching during the process.
5.2 Local Data & Security
EchoWrite stores data, including transcription history and potentially API keys, locally on your device (typically in JSON format).
Since this data is stored locally, the user is responsible for the security and backup of their local data. BOCO assumes no liability for the theft, loss, or compromise of API keys or transcriptions resulting from malware, unauthorized access to the user's device, or lack of encryption on the user's local filesystem.
6. Technical Security & Antivirus Warnings
EchoWrite utilizes "Global Keyboard Hooks" to detect shortcuts and "Direct Text Insertion" to simulate typing. These techniques are sometimes flagged by antivirus or EDR software as false positives.
- User Acknowledgment: The user acknowledges that such alerts do not necessarily indicate malicious intent.
- Installation: Users may need to whitelist EchoWrite in their security software.
- No Liability: BOCO shall not be held liable for software malfunctions, installation failures, or system interruptions caused by third-party security software interference.
7. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of France. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the French courts.
